The UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW) and the Multispecies Collective at the University of Birmingham are delighted to announce that the Call for Papers is now open for the 6th Annual UK Animal Law Conference, which takes place 3-4 June 2026 at the University of Birmingham.
Theme for 2026: The Future of Animal Law
This year’s conference invites academics, lawyers, NGOs and students to explore creative, strategic and collaborative pathways shaping the future of animal law. Submissions are welcome across the full breadth of animal law, ethics, policy and education.
Keynote speaker announcement
We are pleased to announce our first keynote speaker: Professor Kathy Hessler, Assistant Dean for Animal Law and Director of the Animal Legal Education Initiative at George Washington University Law School. Kathy is an internationally recognised leader in the field and will deliver an inspiring keynote address titled Animal Law: The Future is Now.
Presentation formats
You may apply to present:
- An individual presentation (15–20 minutes)
- A panel (2–3 linked papers)
- A workshop (1–2 hours, interactive)
