Emily Treneman - First Place
I have just finished studying for the GDL after graduating from Cardiff University in Biological Science. I am very passionate about animal rights and enjoy writing about legal issues on the matter. I hope to pursue a career in this field of the law and help improve the legal rights of animals.
Grace Robertson - Second Place
Grace Robertson is an aspiring family law barrister, having secured Pupillage commencing this October. Prior to law, Grace was a teacher as part of the Teach First programme and studied history at the University of Bristol where she specialised in environmental history with a particular focus on animal history.
Jasleen Singh - Third Place
Jasleen Singh is an Upper Sixth student at Bristol Grammar School, where she is Head of School. She is studying A Levels in Philosophy, English Literature, Economics and Mathematics with the aim of pursuing a law degree at university. In 2018, Jasleen won first place in the international Never Such Innocence poetry competition for the age 14-16 age category and has since recited her winning poem, titled ‘The Indian Soldier’ at the Guards Chapel in the Wellington Barracks, Buckingham Palace and the House of Lords. She subsequently became a young ambassador for Never Such Innocence. She was chosen as one of three young people to read a prayer at the Westminster Abbey centenary remembrance service in 2018. Further to this, she was chosen as the one representative of the U.K to address the assembly at the German Remembrance service, held in the Bundestag, in 2020, where HRH the Prince of Wales was in attendance.
