ASA clears ‘Humane Milk is a Myth’ advert

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has cleared a newspaper advert which uses the phrase “Humane Milk is a Myth,” after receiving seven complaints, some of which came from within the dairy industry. The complainants suggested that the claims made in the advert were inaccurate and did not reflect how dairy cattle were treated in the UK. Lords’ ‘Brexit: Farm Animal Welfare’ report published

Today the House of Lords EU Energy and Environment Subcommittee released its ‘Brexit: Farm Animal Welfare’ report. The report is the result of the Subcommittee’s mini inquiry into the potential effects of the UK leaving the European Union on farmed animal welfare, which was conducted earlier this year and to which ALAW submitted a written contribution in conjunction with Wildlife and Countryside Link. Animal Welfare discussed in House of Commons

Last Thursday Michael Gove MP, the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, stated that the government intends to keep existing animal welfare standards as a minimum once Britain leaves the EU.
